Abstract
Film-film di Indonesia terus bermunculan, berbagai kisah dan cerita dibuat oleh sang penulis skenario, tidak hanya karya independent sebuah rumah produksi saja banyak pula yang diadaptasi dari sebuah kisah dalam novel atau pun cerita pendek. Film yang dibuat atau diadaptasi memunculkan rekasi yang berbeda dalam setiap karya karena novel dan film memiliki unsur yang berbeda. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan proses ekranisasi penciutan atau pengurangan, penambahan, dan perubahan bervariasi yang terdapat di dalam novel Bumi Manusia karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer ke bentuk film Bumi Manusia karya Hanung Bramantyo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah buku novel Bumi Manusia karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer dan Film Bumi Manusia karya Hanung Bramantyo. Hasil penelitian proses ekranisasi novel ke bentuk film terdapat 67 data yang ditemukan, yaitu 15 data penciutan atau pengurangan, 9 data penambahan dan 43 data perubahan bervariasi. Data tersebut memiliki beberapa aspek yaitu latar, alur dan tokoh. Penciutan yang terjadi pada aspek alur, tokoh dan latar kerena sutradara memotong beberapa bagian cerita dan hanya mengambil bagian informasi pentingnya saja pada alurnya agar ceritanya lebih bisa tersampaikan kepada penonton juga karena keterbatasan durasi tayang. Penambahan yang terjadi pada aspek alur, tokoh dan latar karena adanya interpretasi dari sutradara dan penciutan maka terjadilah penambahan kemudian perubahan bervariasi terjadi pada aspek alur, tokoh dan latar karena bentuk kreativitas sutradara dan plastic material agar visualisasi pada film lebih bisa tergambarkan dengan baik.

| Additional Information: | Films in Indonesia continue to appear, various stories and stories are made by the screenwriter, not only the independent works of a production house, many are also adapted from a story in a novel or a short story. Films made or adapted create different reactions in each work because novels and films have different elements. The purpose of this research is to describe the ecranization process of shrinking or subtracting, adding, and varying changes contained in the novel This earth of Mankind by Pramoedya Ananta Toer into the form of the film Bumi Manusia by Hanung Bramantyo. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data sources for this research are the book Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer and the film This earth of Mankind by Hanung Bramantyo. The results of the research on the process of extracting novels into film form contained 67 data found, namely 15 data on shrinkage or reduction, 9 data on additions and 43 data for varied changes. The data has several aspects, namely the setting, plot and characters. The shrinkage that occurs in the aspects of the plot, characters and settings is because the director cuts several parts of the story and only takes important parts of the information in the plot so that the story can be conveyed to the audience because of the limited broadcast duration. The additions that occur in the plot, character and background aspects are due to the interpretation of the director and the downsizing, then there are additions and then varied changes occur in the aspects of the plot, characters and settings because of the creative form of the director and plastic material so that the visualization of the film can be better portrayed.
