Abstract

Media pendingin dalam proses perlakuan panas memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap perubahan karakteristik baja AISI 410. Perubahan karakteristik yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah kekerasan, struktur mikro dan laju korosi. Perlakuan panas pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara material dipanaskan pada temperatur 9000C dan ditahan selama 45 menit, media pendingin yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah air, oli bekas pakai dan oli SAE 20W-50. Pada proses tempering material kembali dipanaskan pada temperatur 3000C dan ditahan selama 15 menit, kemudian didinginkan pada ruangan terbuka. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sampel quenching air memiliki kekerasan tertinggi yaitu 378 HV, yang diikuti oleh quenching oli SAE 20W-50 dan oli bekas pakai dengan nilai masing-masing 377 dan 362 HV. Struktur mikro yang terbentuk diamati menggunakan alat mikroskop optik, setelah melalui proses perlakuan panas struktur mikro yang terbentuk adalah austenit, ferit dan martensit. Laju korosi didapatkan dengan menggunakan metode Immersion test melalui perhitungan kehilangan massa (weight loss) yang terjadi pada setiap sampel, dari hasil perhitungan didapatkan bahwa laju korosi tertinggi terjadi pada sampel non-treatment dengan nilai laju korosi sebesar 0,6307 gr/y dan nilai laju korosi terendah terdapat pada sampel quenching oli SAE 20W-50 yaitu sebesar 0,2632 gr/y.

Additional Information: The cooling media in the heat treatment process have a significant effect to changes the characteristics of AISI 410 steel. The characteristic changes observed in this study is a hardness, microstructure and corrosion rate. Heat treatment in this study was carried out by heating the material at temperature 9000C and holding it for 45 minutes, the cooling media used in this study is a water, used oil and SAE 20W-50 oil. In the tempering process the material is preheating at 3000C and holding it for 15 minutes, then cooled in open room. The aim of this study are indicated that the sample water quenching have the highest hardness value, the value is 378 HV, followed by sample quenching SAE 20W-50 oil and used oil, the value are 377 and 362 HV.. The microstructure formed was observed with optical microscope, after heat treatment process the microstructure formed were austenite, ferrite and martensite. The corrosion rate formed was observed with the immersion test method through the calculation of the mass loss (weight loss) that occurs in each sample, from the calculation results in this study is found the highest corrosion rate formed in non�treatment samples with a corrosion rate is 0.6307 gr/y. The lowest corrosion value was found in the SAE 20W-50 oil quenching sample, the value is 0.2632 gr/y. Keywords: AISI 410 steel, hardness, corrosion rate, microstructure, quenching
