Abstract
The backgroud of this research based on the result of observation in teaching activity. In learning process teacher did not use many methods but only applying speech method. It’s effect on low activity and learning outcomes. The purpose of this research is to improve the activity and learning outcomes on the problem of local social environment trough word square method at the fourth grade of SDN Panibungan. This research conducted of two cycles, each cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The result of this research showed that: 1) student and teacher’s activity increasedafter using word square method, 2) student’s learning outcomes has increased each cycles. The first cycle received an average of 65,26, while the second cycle gets an average of 81,5. Based on the result of the research, researcher concludes that student ang teacher’s activity has increased by 16,24% by using word square method ang has achieved a distinguished of KKM is already determined.

| Additional Information: | Latar belakang penelitian ini berdasarkan hasil observasi pada kegiatan belajar-mengajar yang dilakukan guru. Dalam kegiatan mengajarnya guru tidak mengggunakan berbagai variasi model pembelajaran dan hanya menerapkan metode ceramah dan itu berpengaruh pada rendahnya aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa. Tujuan dilaksanakan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV SDN Panibungan pada materi Masalah-masalah Sosial di Lingkungan Setempat melalui model pembelajaran Word Square. Penelitian ni dilaksanakan 2 siklus, setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : 1) aktivitas guru dan siswa meningkat setelah menggunakan model pembelajaran Word Square meningkat. 2) hasil belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan setiap siklusnya siklus 1 mendapat rata-rata hasil belajar sebesar 65,26 Sedangkan siklus II mendapat rata-rata 81,5. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa aktivitas guru dan siswa mengalami peningkatan sebesar 16,24% dalam menggunakan model pembelajaran Word square dan telah mencapai KKM yang sudah ditentukan dari sekolah. | |||||||||
