Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan kata bergambar model induktif (PWIM) terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa di kelas tujuh SMPN 1 Kaduhejo-Pandeglang. Metode yang digunakan yaitu penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimental yang sebenarnya. Dalam menarik sampel peneliti menggunakan cluster random teknik pengambilan sampel. Dari 240 populasi diambil 60 siswa sebagai sampel. Di dalam penelitian ini peneliti memilih dua kelas yaitu kelas VII E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII F sebagai kelas kontrol. Namun sebelum melakukan penelitian, peneliti melakukan uji coba terlebih dahulu instrumen dari sampel untuk menemukan validitas dan reliabilitas tes yang akan dijadikan sebagai instrumen penelitian. Kelas VII-C terpilih sebagai kelas try out April ,2014. Hasilnya, 40 item valid karena hasil > dari 2,048 dengan tingkat signifikansi = 0,05 dan dk = n-2. sembuhkan hasil reliabilitas adalah 961. Artinya 40 butir soal dapat digunakan sebagai pre-test dan pasca-tes. Kedua kelompok diberikan pretest sebelum mendapat perlakuan. Itu bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan kosakata siswa. Sedangkan posttest diberikan setelah mereka mendapatkan perlakuan. Instrumen penelitian untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes kosakata dengan 20 . soal tes dalam pilihan ganda. Uji-t independen digunakan dalam pengujian hipotesis untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan PWIM terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa. Berdasarkan hasil uji independent t-test menunjukkan nilai 2,548 dan adalah 2,002 dan sig 2 tailed atau P>0,05 (0,14>0,05). Jadi, hipotesis alternatif diterima dan hipotesis nol ditolak. Artinya ada signifikan pengaruh PWIM pada penguasaan kosakata siswa. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan PWIM sangat bermanfaat untuk mempengaruhi penguasaan kosakata siswa karena mereka tidak hanya mengingat kosakata baru tetapi juga dapat menerapkannya ke dalam kalimat.

Additional Information: The objective of the research was to found out the influence of using picture word inductive model (PWIM) toward students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of SMPN 1 Kaduhejo-Pandeglang. The method used that was quantitative research with true experimental design. In attracted the sample the researcher used cluster random sampling technique. From 240 populations took 60 students as samples. In this research, the researcher chosen two classes, VII E as the experimental class and VII F as the control class. However before conducted the research, the researcher tested the instrument out of samples to found the validity and reliability of the test that would be used as the instrument of the research. The VII-C chosen as the try out class on April ,2014. As the result, the 40 items were valid because the result of > than was 2.048 with the level of significance α = 0.05 and dk = n-2. Wheal the result of reliability was 961. It means that 40 items could be used as the pre-test and post-test. Both of groups were given pretest before they got treatment. It was aimed to know the students’ vocabulary ability. While posttest was given after they got the treatment. The research instrument to collecting the data was vocabulary test with 20 test items in multiple choice. The independent t-test used in testing the hypothesis to knew an influence of using PWIM on students’ vocabulary mastery. Based on the result of independent t-test, It showed that the value of was 2.548 and was 2.002 and sig 2 tailed or P>0.05 (0.14>0.05). Thus, alternative hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was refused. It means that there was significant influence of PWIM on students’ vocabulary mastery. The researcher concluded that the use of PWIM was very beneficial to influence the students’ vocabulary mastery because they were not only remembered new vocabulary but also could apply into sentence.
