Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan oleh menggunakan Film Kartun Bahasa Inggris terhadap kemampuan menyimak siswa. Peneliti melakukan penelitian kuantitatif pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Kota Serang. Peneliti melakukan pre-test, treatment, dan post-test untuk mendapatkan data. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII C sebagai kelas kontrol yang masing-masing terdiri dari 30 siswa. Eksperimental kelas menggunakan Teknik Film Kartun Bahasa Inggris. Tapi, di kelas kontrol tidak menggunakan Teknik Film Kartun Inggris. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif penggunaan Film Kartun Bahasa Inggris terhadap kemampuan mendengarkan siswa. Dari nilai rata-rata pre-test adalah 65,8 dan nilai rata-rata post-test adalah 80,3. Selain itu, hasil uji-t menunjukkan pengaruh yang signifikan. Jika thitung lebih tinggi ttabel, (5,45 2,00), artinya hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak. Dengan demikian, Film Kartun Inggris dapat memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap Kemampuan Mendengarkan Siswa.

Additional Information: The aim of this research is to find out whether there is significant influence by using English Cartoon Movies toward students’ listening ability. The researcher conducted quantitative research to the students at the eighth grade of SMPN 3 Kota Serang. The researcher conducted pre-test, treatment, and post-test for getting the data. The samples in this research were students of VIII A as experimental class and VIII C as control class, which consisted of 30 students respectively. The experimental class used English Cartoon Movies Technique. But, in the control class did not use English Cartoon Movies Technique. The result of this research showed that there was positive influence of using English Cartoon Movies toward students’ listening ability. From the mean scores of pre-test was 65.8 and the mean scores of post-test was 80.3. Moreover, the result of t-test revealed significant influence. If tcount was higher thanttable, (5.45 ≥ 2.00), it means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Thus, English Cartoon Movies were able to give positive influence toward Students’ Listening Ability.
