Abstract

In this globalization era, companies engaged in construction industry are implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) which demand the contractors to adapt TQM or SCM system in order to fulfil the needs in accordance with costumers demand. The system implementation is applicable for private contractors or domestic contractors in order to compete with other companies. The concept of this research is to develop the Total Quality Management (TQM) variable, Supply Chain Management (SCM) management variable (the flow of goods, money, and information), and competitiveness variable (cost, time, and quality). This research also attempting to test the effect of TQM and SCM on the competitiveness of the construction industry separately or simultaneously by using questionnaire as a measuring tool and AMOS V.21 software as the data processing application. The result shows that the effect of TQM on competitiveness in the construction industry, as seen in the path diagram analysis, is 0.441 or 44%. The SCM effect on the competitiveness is 0.547 or 55%.
