Abstract
Berdasarkan studi pendahuluan penulis, ditemukan bahwa banyak siswa masih sulit dalam pemahaman bacaan. Masalah tersebut disebabkan oleh kurangnya media yang membantu siswa untuk mengorganisasikan informasi dari teks. Jadi, grafik organizer sebagai media visual instruksi digunakan untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut. Grafis Organizer adalah media visual instruksi yang digunakan untuk mengatur informasi visual menggunakan grafik, peta atau diagram. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh organisator grafis sebagai media dalam pengajaran pemahaman membaca di kelas VIII SMPN 7 Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen sejati. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 7 Serang. Sampel terdiri dari 74 siswa dengan jumlah siswa 240 siswa. Kemudian, penulis menggunakan cluster sampling dan mengambil dua kelas secara acak sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol kelompok. Setiap kelompok terdiri dari 37 siswa. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan pre-test dan post-test untuk mendapatkan hasil pemahaman membaca siswa. Validitas dan reliabilitas alat uji dihitung dengan menggunakan Pearson product moment dan cronbach alfa fromula. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan t-test independent sample rumus untuk mengukur signifikansi antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Itu data dihitung dengan menggunakan SPSS. Berdasarkan analisis data, penulis menemukan hasil uji-t independen contoh rumus. Nilai thitung untuk post-test antara dua kelompok adalah 3,181. Meja untuk df =72 dengan derajat signifikansi 0,05 adalah 0,677. Hasilnya adalah 3,181 > 0,677. Didapatkan nilai thitung lebih tinggi dari nilai kritis ttabel. Artinya bahwa H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Dengan kata lain, pengatur grafis mempengaruhi pemahaman membaca siswa. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh signifikan pemahaman membaca siswa dengan menggunakan grafik penyelenggara di SMPN 7 serang.

| Additional Information: | Based on the writer’s preliminary study, it was found that many students still difficult in reading comprehension.The problem was caused by the lack of media that help student to organize the information from the text. Thus, graphic organizers as visual media instruction was used to solve the problem. Graphic organizer was visual media instruction that used to organize the information visually using graph, maps or diagram. The aim of the study was to find out the influence of graphic organizer as media in teaching reading comprehension at the eighth grade of SMPN 7 Serang. This research used true experimental design. The population of the research were the eighth grade students of SMPN 7 Serang. The sample consisted of 74 students with total of the students were 240 students. Then, the writer used cluster sampling and took two classes randomly as an experimental group and control group. Each group consisted of 37 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used pre-test and post-test in order to get the result of students’ reading comprehension. The validity and the reliability of test instrument were counted by using Pearson product moment and cronbach alpha fromula. In analyzing the data, the researcher used t-test independent sample formula to measure the significance between the experiment and control group. The data were counted by using SPSS. Based on the data analysis, the writer found the result of independent t-test sample formula. The tcount for post-test between two group was 3.181. The ttable for df =72 with the degree of significant 0.05 was 0.677. The result was 3.181 > 0.677. It was obtained that the value of tcount was higher than critical value of ttable. It mean that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. In other word, graphic organizer influenced students’ reading comprehension. It can be concluded that there were significant influence of student’s reading comprehension by using graphic organizer at SMPN 7 serang. | |||||||||
