Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana efektivitas menggunakan flashcard untuk pemahaman siswa tentang simple past tense. Penelitian ini juga berfokus pada bagaimana hasil setelah perawatan dan membandingkan hasilnya dengan kelompok kontrol. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII siswa kelas SMPN 1 Kragilan dan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa VIII/G dan VIII/H. Setiap kelas terdiri dari 30 siswa. Sebelum melakukan penelitian, peneliti melakukan uji coba untuk memeriksa validitas dan keandalan tes. Kelas yang digunakan sebagai uji coba adalah kelas VIII/A dan kelas juga terdiri dari 30 siswa. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menerapkan metode true desain eksperimen pretest-posttest control group design sebagai metode penelitian. Ada dua kelompok yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Eksperimen mendapatkan perlakuan sedangkan kelompok kontrol tidak. Hasilnya, pre-test telah dilakukan dan mendapat skor rata-rata kontrol kelompok adalah 46,67 dan 49,83 untuk kelompok eksperimen. Sementara post test mereka mendapat 77,17 untuk kelompok kontrol dan 82,17 untuk kelompok eksperimen. Berdasarkan Dari hasil tes, dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan dari pre-test ke post test adalah 30,5 poin, sedangkan 32,34 poin untuk kelompok eksperimen. Hasilnya menunjukkan di sana adakah perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok yang menggunakan flashcard sebagai pengajaran mereka? media dan mereka yang tidak. Hasil tersebut juga menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen memiliki peningkatan yang lebih tinggi setelah belajar dengan menggunakan flashcard. Kesimpulannya, flashcard merupakan salah satu media yang efektif untuk meningkatkan antusiasme dan pemahaman siswa tentang simple past tense.

| Additional Information: | The objective of this research were to find out how is the effectiveness of using flashcard to the students’ understanding simple past tense. This research also focuses on how is the result after treatment and compares the result with the control group. The population of this research was all of students of the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kragilan and the sample that used in this research were the students of VIII/G and VIII/H. Each class consisted 30 students. Before conducting the research, the researcher did a try out to check the validity and reliability of the test. The class that was used as the try out was VIII/A and class also consist of 30 students. The researcher used quantitative research implementing the true experimental design pretest-posttest control group design as research method. There were two groups that used in this research. The experimental got the treatment meanwhile the control group did not. The result, the pre-test had been done and got average score of control group was 46.67 and 49.83 for the experimental group. While the post test they got 77.17 for the control group and 82.17 for the experimental group. Based on the test result, it could be concluded that the improvement of pre-test to post test was 30.5 point, while 32.34 point for experimental group. The result shows there is significant difference between the group who use flashcard as their teaching media and those who don’t. The result also shows that the experimental group has higher improvement after learning by using flashcard. In conclusion, flashcard is one of effective media to increase enthuasiasm and students’ understanding of simple past tense. | |||||||||
