Abstract

It is inevitable and widely assumed that writing has been considered to remain salient for EFL learners. Nonetheless, viewed from students indicated to experience writing anxiety, such a process will be a hard-going since the productive skill embodies a complex process of composition as what suggested by Ignatius (2012). Thus, the present study was mainly aimed at finding out how Literature Circles facilitation is reviewed in regards with composition, particularly on its linguistic items: cohesion, coherence, and word selection. The researcher attempted to use a qualitative case study design in which evidences, percentages, and responses were both collected through three techniques – observation, documentation, interviews – and interchangably outlined. Thirty of 4 th semester students majoring English were selected purposively under the principle that they are considered as voluntary participants. It was attempted to get done for one month in six meetings which were accomplished by five reading circles consisting of 6 members and role worksheets each. Interestingly, at least, three major findings were gained. The typically contributing factors on the emergence of writing anxiety were a strong sense of competitiveness and selfanxious whether their composition has conformed to standard writing norm. One striking insight is they strongly argued that LCs could promote composition process as a result of role-based discussions and conjoined formulation in each meeting. Also, they experienced a sense of satisfaction upon their composition because of such intriguing circumstances.
