Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kemampuan abstraksi matematis yang rendah. Upaya yang dilakukan dalam permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan menerapkan pendekatan pembelajaran CRA (Concrete Representational Abstract). Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pencapaian akhir dan peningkatan kemampuan abstraksi matematis dan untuk mengetahui proses abstraksi siswa serta keterkaitan antara kemampuan abstraksi matematis dengan proses abstraksi matematisnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran (mixed method) dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas VIII pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Tangerang. Adapun desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain Concurent triangulation. Pengambilan sampel untuk data kuantitatif dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling sedangkan untuk data kualitatif dilakukan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa instrumen tes dan non-tes. Instrumen tes berupa soal uraian dan instrumen non-tes berupa observasi (catatan lapangan), wawancara, skala sikap, unjuk kerja siswa, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh bahwa peningkatan dan pencapaian akhir kemampuan abstraksi matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan pembelajaran CRA (Concrete Representational Abstract) lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran kooperatif biasa, gambaran proses abstraksi siswa melalui pendekatan pembelajaran CRA (Concrete Representational Abstract) adalah proses abstraksi empiris dengan aspek yang dominan adalah mengidentifikasi sifat-sifat objek melalui pengalaman langsung, serta ada keterkaitan antara kemampuan abstraksi matematis dan proses abstraksinya.

This research is motivated by the low ability of mathematical abstraction. Effort made in this problem is by applying learning approach of CRA (Concrete Representational Abstract). This study aimed to determine the final achievement and the increase of mathematical abstraction ability and to know student abstraction process and the linkages between mathematical abstraction ability and its mathematical abstraction process. This study used mixed methods to the entire population of eighth grade students in one of the Junior High School in Tangerang City. The design of the study was a concurent triangulation. Sampling was carried out for quantitative data with random cluster sampling technique. Instruments used were in the form of tests and non-test. The test intruments was in the form of essay and non-tes instruments took observation (field notes), interviews, attitude scales, and documentation of students performance. Based on the research showed that the increase and the final achievement of mathematical abstaction ability of students who received learning approach of CRA (Concrete Representational Abstract) is better than students who get a regular cooperative learning, description of students abstraction proccess through CRA learning approach is empirical abstrsction process with identifying objects characters through direct observation as the dominant aspect, and there is a correlation between mathematical abstraction ability and its abstraction process.
