Abstract

The objective of this research were to find out the process to teach students’ procedure text by using Cooking Academy Game and find out whether Cooking Academy Game can improve students’ writing ability in learning procedure text at seventh grade of MTs Al-Mubarok kota Serang. The researcher used Class Action Research (CAR) as a research methodology. This research was conducted in two cycles which consisted two meetings in every cycle. The researcher used pre-test and post-test to collect the quantitative data. Meanwhile, the researcher used observation sheet, and documentation for collecting the qualitative data. The students enjoyed when they applied Cooking Academy Game as a media. The students also worked their task well because they could connect the material of procedure text with the real life of their experience. All students were confident and enthusiastic with the task because they could share their experience in the written form. The researcher used pre-test to measure the students’ ability in composing writing skill before giving the treatment and posttest was gave after implementing Cooking Academy Game to measure the students’ ability in composing writing skill. In the first cycle, the average of pretest was 72.76, and average of post-test 1 was 77.84. For cycle 2, the average of post-test 2 was 78.2. The researcher found that the students got an improvement in writing skill especially in procedure text. In conclusion, Cooking Academy Game as a media of teaching learning process can improve students’ writing skill in procedure text.
