Abstract

Tilapia and freshwater crayfish one were among the freshwater aquaculture commodities that have high economic value. Many people interest with these commodities. Thus it is needed necessary efforts to improve aquaculture production of tilapia and freshwater crayfish. This study aims to determine the best stocking density of freshwater crayfish in polyculture maintenance in a recirculation system that supports the growth and survival rate of tilapia. This research was conducted on January until February 2016 held at the Laboratory of Aquaculture, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Tilapia with average weight of 2.90 ± 0.3 g/fish and freshwater crayfish seed with an average individual weight of 0.80 ± 0.2 g/fish kept in the aquarium sized 40x30x30cm³ with water volume of 30 liters, which equipped with aeration system for 28 days. This studies used five treatments and three replications. Treatments A (10 tilapia and 5 crayfish), B (10 tilapia and 10 crayfish), C (10 tilapia and 15 crayfish), D (10 tilapia and 20 crayfish) and E (10 tilapia and 25 crayfish). Parameters observed that the survival rate, specific growth rate, feed convertion ratio and water quality. The results showed the best stocking density is 5 crayfish and 10 tilapia give specific growth rate of 3.69 ± 0.06 % / day and survival rate of 93.33 ± 5.78% in tilapia.
