Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan storytelling terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMAN 3 Kota Serang pada semester I tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Peneliti melakukan penelitian ini didasarkan pada pertanyaan penelitian tentang masalah penelitian tentang “the pengaruh penggunaan storytelling terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa”. Peneliti melakukan penelitian ini dengan menerapkan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan true eksperimental sebagai desain penelitian. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua kelas yaitu kelas X SMAN 3 Kota Serang dipilih berdasarkan random sampling. Satu kelas dipilih sebagai eksperimen kelompok dan satu lagi sebagai kelompok kontrol. Setiap kelas terdiri dari 41 siswa dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 82 siswa. Ini adalah sekitar 20% dari populasi. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan temuan untuk pertanyaan penelitian. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan skor pretest dan pasca-tes. Nilai rata-rata pada kelompok eksperimen adalah 51,70 pada pre-test dan menjadi 68,49 pada post-test. Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji-t independen. Hasil dari ini penelitian menunjukkan bahwa t-hitung > t-tabel (14.877 > 1.990). Artinya ada pengaruh signifikan penggunaan storytelling terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa. Berdasarkan Dari hasil penelitian, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa mendongeng adalah salah satu teknik yang tepat berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa agar dapat siswa menjadi aktif dalam pembelajaran berbicara.

Additional Information: The aim of this research was to find out the influence of using storytelling toward students’ speaking ability. This research was conducted in SMAN 3 Kota Serang on the first semester of academic year 2014/2015. The researcher conducted this research based on a research question of the research problem about “the influence of using storytelling toward students’ speaking ability”. The researcher conducted this research by applying quantitative approach with true experimental as research design. This research involved two classes of the 10th grade at SMAN 3 Kota Serang chosen based on random sampling. One class was chosen as an experimental group and other one as the control group. Each class consist of 41 students with total sample were 82 students. It is about 20% from population. The results of the research revealed a finding to the research question. It was showed by score of pretest and post-test. The mean score in experimental group was 51,70 on pre-test and it became 68,49 on post-test. The hypothesis test used independent t-test. The result of this research showed that t-count > t-table (14,877 > 1,990). It means that there was a significant influence of using storytelling towards students’ speaking ability. Based on the result of the research, the researcher concluded that storytelling was one of the appropriate techniques influenced toward students’ speaking skill in order to be students became active in learning speaking.
