Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan gambar memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa di kelas delapan SMPN 1 Jawilan Kabupaten Serang.Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan benar desain eksperimen sebagai metode penelitian, Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Jawilan Kabupaten Serang. Enam puluh siswa diambil sebagai sampel dengan random sampling, tiga puluh siswa kelas VIII-7 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan tiga puluh siswa kelas VIII-8 sebagai kelas kontrol. Kelas kontrol menggunakan metode konvensional (perlakuan tanpa menggunakan gambar sebagai media) sedangkan kelas eksperimen menggunakan pengobatan (menggunakan gambar sebagai media). Kedua kelas diberikan pretest dan posttest untuk mengetahui pemahaman membaca siswa sebelum perlakuan dan setelah perlakuan. Itu Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes membaca. Nomor butir soal kedua tes (pretest dan posttest) sebanyak 20 butir isian yang kosong. Peneliti menggunakan rumus T-test untuk menganalisis pretest dan posttest siswa dalam kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Ada beberapa hasil penelitian: 1). Skor t-test antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen adalah 1,57. Tabel distribusi dengan tingkat signifikansi 0,05, dan T tabel 0,083 Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa dari nilai signifikansi level 0,01 > (1,570> 0,083). Oleh karena itu, hipotesis nol ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif diterima. 2). Rerata skor pretest di kelas kontrol adalah 65 dan menjadi 83,9 pada posttest. Sementara itu, nilai rata-rata pretest dalam eksperimen kelas adalah 78 dan menjadi 85,8 pada posttest. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh signifikan penggunaan gambar terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa di kelas delapan SMPN 1 Jawilan Kabupaten Serang.

| Additional Information: | The objectives of the research was to findout whether the use of pictures had significant influence toward students’ reading comprehension at the eight grade of SMPN 1 Jawilan Kabupaten Serang.The researcher used quantitative approach with true experimental design as a method of the research, The Population of the research were students at eight grade of SMPN 1 Jawilan Kabupaten Serang. Sixty students were taken as a sample with random sampling, thirty students of VIII-7 as experimental class and thirty students of VIII-8 as control class. The control class used the conventional method (treatment without using pictures as media) while the experimental class used treatment(using pictures as media) . Both classes were given pretest and posttest to findout students’ reading comprehension before the treatment and after the treatment. The instrument of the research that used to collecting the data was reading test. The number item both of test (pretest and posttest) were 20 items is fill in the blank. The researcher used T-test formula to analyzed the students’ pretest and posttest in control and experimental class.There was some result of the research: 1). The score t-test between control class and experimental class is 1.57. The distribution table with significance level 0.05, and the T table is 0.083 It showed that that than the value of significance level 0.01 > (1.570> 0.083).Therefore, the null hypothesis was refused and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. 2). Mean score of pretest in control class was 65 and it became 83.9 at the posttest. Meanwhile, the mean score of pretest in experimental class was 78 and it became 85.8 at the posttest. So, it can be concluded that there was a significance influence of using pictures toward students’ reading comprehension at the eight grade of SMPN 1 Jawilan Kabupaten Serang. | |||||||||
