Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik Jigsaw dalam mengurangi tingkat kecemasan siswa untuk berbicara bahasa Inggris di kelas IX SMPN 1 Kab. Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui kuasi eksperimen sebagai desain penelitian. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX SMPN 1 Gunungsari Kab. Serang dan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan IX C sebagai kelas kontrol. Setiap kelas terdiri dari 30 siswa. Hasilnya, peneliti menunjukkan skor rata-rata pra-kuesioner di kelas eksperimen adalah 70,03 dan menjadi 50,83 di pascakuesioner. Sedangkan pada kelas kontrol nilai rata-rata pra-kuesioner adalah 74.10 dan menjadi 81.03 di pasca-kuesioner. Dalam menemukan perbedaan yang signifikan antara dua variabel, peneliti melakukan t-test. Hasilnya menunjukkan thitung adalah lebih tinggi dari ttabel (6,36 1,672). Oleh karena itu, hipotesis alternatif (Ha) adalah diterima. Jadi, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa, ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari Teknik Jigsaw dalam mengurangi tingkat kecemasan siswa untuk berbicara bahasa Inggris di kelas sembilan di SMPN 1 Gunungsari Kab. Serang. Peneliti juga berharap Jigsaw bisa digunakan sebagai salah satu alternatif teknik pengajaran untuk mengajar berbicara.

| Additional Information: | The objective of the research is to find out the influence of Jigsaw technique in reducing students’ anxiety level to speak English at ninth grade of SMPN 1 Kab. Serang. This research used quantitative approach through quasi experimental as a research design. The populations of this research were all of ninth grade students of SMPN 1 Gunungsari Kab. Serang and the sample which used in this research were the students of IX A as the experimental class and IX C as the control class. Each class consisted of 30 students. As the result, the researcher showed the average score of pre-questionnaire in experimental class was 70.03 and became 50.83 in the post�questionnaire. Meanwhile, in control class the average score of pre-questionnaire was 74.10 and became 81.03 in the post-questionnaire. In finding a significant difference between two variables, the researcher conducted t-test. The result showed tcount was higher than ttable (6.36 ≥ 1.672). Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. So, the researcher concluded that, there was a significant influence of Jigsaw technique in reducing students’ anxiety level to speak English at ninth grade at SMPN 1 Gunungsari Kab. Serang. The researcher also expected that Jigsaw could be used as one alternative teaching technique to teach speaking. | |||||||||
