Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan group diskusi terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Negeri 1 Baros pada semester II tahun ajaran 2013/2014. penelitian Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menerapkan rancangan eksperimen sejati. Itu peneliti menggunakan teknik random sampling sekitar 20% dari populasi. Ada dua kelompok yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Contoh ini penelitian ini adalah siswa SMAN 1 Baros, 29 siswa kelompok kontrol dan 29 siswa dalam kelompok eksperimen. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan skor pre-test dan post-test. Artinya skor pre-test pada kelompok kontrol adalah 43,74. Menjadi 57,03 pada post-test. Sedangkan pada kelompok eksperimen nilai rata-rata pre-test adalah 50,21 dan menjadi 61,60 pada post-test. Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji-t independen. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa t-test lebih tinggi dari t-tabel ttest > ttabel (2,29 1,67) pada kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen pada taraf signifikansi 0,05 dan derajat kebebasan 56. Artinya hipotesis diterima. Berdasarkan Hasil penelitian, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa diskusi kelompok signifikan penggunaan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Baros.

| Additional Information: | . The aim of this research was to find out the influence of using group discussion toward student‟s speaking ability. This research was conducted in SMA Negeri 1 Baros on the second semester of academic year 2013/2014. The research method was quantitative research by implementing the true experimental design. The researcher used random sampling technique about 20% of population. There were two groups used in this research. The experimental and control group. Sample of this research is students of SMAN 1 Baros, 29 students in control group and 29 students in experimental group. It was showed by score of pre-test and post-test. The mean score of pre-test in control group was 43,74. It become 57,03 at the post-test. Meanwhile, in experimental group the mean score of pre-test was 50,21 and it become 61,60 on post-test. The hypothesis test used independent t-test. The result of this research showed that t-test was higher than t-table ttest > ttable (2,29 ≥ 1,67) in control group and experimental group at the level of significant of α 0.05 and the degree of freedom of 56. It means that the hypothesis was accepted. Based on the result of the research, the researcher concluded that the group discussion is significant of using students‟ speaking ability at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Baros. | |||||||||
