Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh menggunakan Majalah Bahasa Inggris terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa di SMPN VIII 1 Kibin. Penelitian ini menggunakan true-experimental sebagai desain penelitian. Itu Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Kibin bidang akademik tahun 2015-2016. Peneliti menggunakan simple random sampling untuk mengambil sampel. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 62 siswa, 31 siswa kelas VIII A sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan 31 siswa kelompok kontrol VIII B. Alat musik ini penelitian adalah tes. Tes dibagi menjadi dua bagian, yaitu pre-test dan pasca-tes. Perlakuan menggunakan majalah bahasa Inggris diberikan untuk percobaan kelompok dan menggunakan buku teks “LKS” untuk kelompok kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan antara hasil pre-test dan post-test. Itu bisa dilihat dari nilai rata-rata pre-test kelompok eksperimen adalah 44, 40 dan kelompok kontrol adalah 41, 06. Setelah diberi perlakuan, nilai rata-rata post-test eksperimen kelompok adalah 67, 42 dan kelompok kontrol adalah 23, 45. Analisis data dilakukan untuk gunakan T-test untuk desain dua kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa post-test skor menunjukkan thitung lebih besar dari ttabel (9,868 > 2.000). Artinya Ho (null hipotesis) ditolak dan Ha (hipotesis alternatif) diterima. Berdasarkan analisis data di atas, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh penggunaan Majalah bahasa Inggris terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa di kelas delapan SMPN 1 Kibin.

| Additional Information: | The objective of the research was to find out whether there is influence of using English Magazine toward students‟ reading comprehension at eighth SMPN 1 Kibin. This research used true-experimental as the research design. The population of this research was the eighth grade at SMPN 1 Kibin in academic year 2015-2016. The researcher used simple random sampling to take the sample. The samples of this research were 62 students, 31 students in VIII A as experiment group and 31 students in VIII B control group. The instrument of this research was test. The test was divided into two parts, there were pre-test and post-test. The treatment using English magazine was administrated for experiment group and using text book “LKS” for control group. The research result indicated that there was improvement between pre-test and post-test result. It could be seen from the pre-test mean score of experiment group was 44, 40 and control group was 41, 06. After having the treatment, the mean score of post-test experiment group was 67, 42 and control group was 23, 45. Data analysis was attempted to use T-test for two groups design. The research result indicated that the post-test score showed tcount more than ttable (9,868 > 2,000). It means the Ho (null hypothesis) was refused and Ha (alternative hypothesis) was accepted. Based on the data analysis above, the researcher concluded that there was influence of using English magazine toward students‟ reading comprehension at eighth grade of SMPN 1 Kibin. | |||||||||
