Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan clustering teknik menulis teks recount siswa kelas VIII SMPN 13 Kota Serang. Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian, peneliti melakukan penelitian true-experimental di SMPN 13 Kota Serang. Populasi ini penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 13 Kota Serang tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Untuk sampel, peneliti mengambil dua kelas berdasarkan cluster teknik random sampling, kelas VIII C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII F sebagai kelas kontrol kelas. Kedua kelas terdiri dari 35 siswa. Kelas eksperimen diajarkan menulis teks recount dengan menggunakan teknik clustering, sedangkan kelas kontrol adalah diajarkan menulis teks recount dengan menggunakan metode konvensional atau tanpa menggunakan teknik pengelompokan. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes; tes awal dan tes akhir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hasil nilai rata-rata post-test dalam kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dari hasil nilai rata-rata post-test di kelas kontrol kelas. Nilai rata-rata post-test kelas kontrol adalah 80,57 dan rata-rata post-test skor kelas eksperimen adalah 85,14. Untuk membuktikan bahwa nilai rata-rata keduanya kelas berbeda nyata, data dianalisis dengan uji-t. Itu hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa thitung > ttabel (2,51 > 1,67) yang menunjukkan bahwa Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, artinya ada pengaruh penggunaan teknik clustering dalam menulis teks recount siswa kelas VIII SMPN 13 Kota Serang. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan clustering teknik menulis teks recount siswa membantu siswa menjadi lebih baik prestasi secara tertulis.

Additional Information: The purpose of the research was to know the influence of using clustering technique toward students’ writing recount text at the eighth grade of SMPN 13 Kota Serang. To achieve the purpose of the research, the researcher conducted true-experimental research at SMPN 13 Kota Serang. The population of this research was eighth grade students of SMPN 13 Kota Serang in academic year 2014/2015. For the sample, the researcher took two classes based on cluster random sampling technique, VIII C as experimental class and VIII F as control class. Both of classes consisted of 35 students. The experimental class was taught writing recount text by using clustering technique, while the control class was taught writing recount text by using conventional method or without using clustering technique. The instrument of this research was tests; pre-test and post�test. The research findings showed the result of post-test mean score in experimental class was higher than the result of post-test mean score in control class. The post-test mean score of control class was 80.57 and the post-test mean score of experimental class was 85.14. To prove that the mean score of both classes were significantly different, the data was analyzed by using t-test. The result of data analysis showed that ttest > ttable (2.51 > 1.67) which indicated that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, so it means there was an influence of using clustering technique in students’ writing recount text at the eighth grade of SMPN 13 Kota Serang. The findings of this research indicated that the use of clustering technique toward students’ writing recount text helped students to get better achievement in writing.
