Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan teknik think pair share terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa di kelas delapan kelas SMPN 15 Kota Serang. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII F sebagai kelompok kontrol. Peneliti menggunakan 37 siswa sebagai sampel dari kedua kelas. Kelas dipilih secara acak dari delapan kelas. Kelompok kontrol menerima perlakuan konvensional, sedangkan kelompok eksperimen mendapatkan perlakuan teknik think pair share. Di dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan rancangan eksperimen sejati sebagai metode penelitian. Sebelum memulai perawatan, dua tes serupa disiapkan sebagai: pre-test dan post-test untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa pada awal dan akhir pembelajaran. Perhitungan analisis uji-t adalah dilakukan dengan uji Levene di SPSS v.16.0. Tingkat signifikansi adalah 0,05. Itu hasil penelitian ini, pengaruh pemahaman membaca siswa terhadap kelas eksperimen adalah signifikan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil uji-T. Peneliti diperoleh hasil dari uji signifikansi atau “t” hitung sebesar 2,570, sedangkan “t” tabel sebesar 1,994. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa “t” hitung lebih tinggi dari “t” tabel t-test (2,570 1,994). Oleh karena itu, hipotesis nol ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif diterima. Jadi, bisa jadi disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan teknik think pair share terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa kelas VIII SMPN 15 Kota Serang

Additional Information: The objective of this research was to find out whether there is a significant influence of think pair share technique toward students’ reading comprehension at the eighth grade of SMPN 15 Kota Serang. The sample that was used in this research was the students of VIII E as experimental class and VIII F as control group. The researcher used 37 students as samples from both of class. The classes were chosen randomly from the eight classes. The control group received the conventional treatment, while the experimental group received the think pair share technique treatment. In this research, the researcher used quantitative method with true experimental design as a method of research. Before starting the treatment, two similar tests were prepared as the pre-test and post-test to find out students’ reading comprehension ability at the beginning and the at the end of the study. The computation of t-test analysis was conducted by Levene’s test in SPSS v.16.0. The level significance was 0.05. The result of this research, the influence of students’ reading comprehension on experimental class was significant. It can be seen from result of T-test. The researcher got the result from significance test or “t” count is 2.570, while, the “t” table is 1.994. It shows that “t” count is higher than “t” table of t-test (2.570 1.994). Therefore, the null hypothesis was refused and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. So, It can be concluded that there is a significant influence think pair share technique toward students reading comprehension at the eighth grade students of SMPN 15 Kota Serang.
