Abstract
Bahasa Inggris adalah bahasa asing yang dipelajari oleh siswa di semua tingkatan. Ada empat keterampilan berbahasa Inggris yang harus dipelajari. Salah satunya adalah menulis. Menulis merupakan salah satu keterampilan produktif yang menitikberatkan pada proses berbahasa produksi. Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengaruh evaluasi teman sebaya terhadap siswa keterampilan menulis teks deskriptif siswa kelas II SMPN 6 Kota Serang. Itu Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah evaluasi sejawat dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Masalah penelitian ini adalah tentang teknik mengajar. Karena perkembangan pengajaran bahasa Inggris saat ini, ada banyak teknik yang dapat diadaptasi oleh guru di dalam kelas. Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengaruh evaluasi teman sebaya terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa pada teks deskriptif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses terjadinya mengajar untuk mengetahui pengaruh peer evaluation terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa dalam kelas dua di SMPN 6 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu sebagai metode penelitian. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas II SMPN 6 Kota Serang, dan sampelnya yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII B sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan VIII A sebagai kelompok kontrol. Kelas dipilih secara acak dari enam kelas. Dengan menggunakan metode ini, peneliti melakukan eksperimen di untuk mengetahui peningkatan yang signifikan pada kelompok eksperimen setelah perlakuan. Instrumen yang digunakan peneliti adalah tes menulis dan wawancara. Setelah mengumpulkan data, peneliti menganalisisnya dengan menggunakan uji-t. Hasil dari ini penelitian menunjukkan pengaruh yang signifikan dari evaluasi teman sebaya terhadap tulisan siswa keterampilan dalam teks deskriptif pada kelompok eksperimen adalah signifikan. Hal itu dapat dilihat dari hasil uji-t. Peneliti mendapatkan hasil dari uji signifikansi atau thitung sebesar 4,26, sedangkan ttabel adalah 0,05. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa thitung lebih besar dari ttabel (4,26 > 0,05). hipotesis nol ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif diterima. Jadi, bisa jadi menyimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis deskriptif siswa dengan menggunakan strategi peer evaluation pada siswa kelas II SMPN 6 Kota Serang.

| Additional Information: | English is a foreign language has been learned by the students in all levels. There are four skills in English language that should be learned. One of the is writing. Writing is one of productive skills, which is focused on the process of language production.This research focuses on the influence of peer evaluation toward students writing skill in descriptive text at the second grade of SMPN 6 Kota Serang. The objectives of this research is to find out whether peer evaluation can improve students’ ability in writing descriptive text. The issue of this research was about teaching technique. Due to the development of teaching English today, there are many techniques that can be adapted by the teacher in the classroom. This research focuses on the influence of peer evaluation toward students writing ability on descriptive text. The objectives of the research were to know the process of teaching to know the influence of peer evaluation toward students’ writing skill in second grade at SMPN 6 Kota Serang. This research used quantitative approach with quasi experimental design as a method of the research. The population of this research was all of the students of second grade at SMPN 6 Kota Serang, and the sample that was used in this research was the students of VIII B as experimental group and VIII A as the control group. The classes were chosen randomly from the six classes. By using this method, the researcher conducted the experimental in order to find out the significant improvement in experimental group after treatment. The instrument that used by the researcher were writing test and interview. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzed them by using t-test. The result of this research shows the significant influence of peer evaluation toward students writing skill in descriptive text on experimental group was significant. It can be seen from the result of t-test. The researcher got the result from significance test or tcount is 4.26, while, the ttable is 0,05. It shown that tcount is higher than ttable (4.26 > 0.05).Therefore, the null hypothesis is refused and the alternative hypothesis is received. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of students’ descriptive writing skill by using peer evaluation strategy at the second grade students of SMPN 6 Kota Serang. | |||||||||
