Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh signifikan dari metode langsung terhadap keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa kelas IX Pondok Pesantren Daar El Qolam Gintung Jayanti Tangerang. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menerapkan desain eksperimen sejati sebagai metode penelitian. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX Daar El Qolam. Dari empat belas kelas, dua kelas dipilih dengan menggunakan random contoh. IX A dipilih sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan IX F dipilih sebagai kelompok kontrol. Berdasarkan data yang didapat dari para siswa nilai tes, proses belajar mengajar berjalan aktif karena siswa memberikan tanggapan positif. Mereka bisa menjawab pertanyaan peneliti dengan sangat dengan baik selama proses pembelajaran. Mereka juga bertanya kepada peneliti terkait dengan bahan. Setelah melakukan treatment dan evaluasi baik pre test maupun post tes dengan menginstruksikan siswa untuk berlatih bahasa Inggris tentang prosedur teks. Peneliti menemukan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan direct metode terhadap keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai t-test yang lebih tinggi dari nilai t-tabel (23.535 > 1.993) dengan taraf signifikan adalah 0,05. Artinya hipotesis (Ha) diterima. Oleh karena itu, dari temuan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh metode langsung terhadap satudents keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris. Semua saran bahwa penggunaan metode langsung dalam pengajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris sangat direkomendasikan.

| Additional Information: | The objective of this research is to find out the significant influence of direct method toward students’ English speaking skill at ninth grade Daar El�Qolam Boarding School Gintung Jayanti Tangerang. The researcher used quantitative research by implementing true experimental design as the research method. The population of this research was ninth grade Daar El�Qolam. From fourteen classes, two classes were selected by using random sampling. IX A was selected as experimental group and IX F was selected as control group. Based on the data that had been obtaining from the students’ test score, the process of teaching learning ran active because the students gave positive responses. They could answer the researcher’s question very well during the learning process. They also ask to the researcher related to the material. After conducting the treatments and evaluating both pre test and post test by instructing students to practice English language about the procedure text. The researcher found that there was significant influence of using direct method toward students’ English speaking skills. It can be seen from the value of t-test which was higher than the value of t-table (23.535 > 1.993) with level of significant was 0.05. It means that the (Ha) hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, from those findings it can be concluded that there is influence of direct method toward satudents English speaking skills. All the suggestion that the use of direct method in teaching English speaking is highly recommended | |||||||||
