Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teka-teki silang terhadap penguasaan siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif secara spesifik benar desain eksperimental. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII kelas SMPN 1 Kragilan tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Kelas sampling yang diambil VIII. Sampel dipilih dengan teknik random sampling yang membutuhkan 10% dari populasi. Jadi, populasi yang dipilih adalah 288 siswa dan sampel 32 siswa kelas kontrol dan 32 siswa kelas eksperimen. Instrumen penelitian adalah tes yang diberikan dalam dua bentuk; pre-test dan post-test. Instrumen memiliki telah diuji melalui tryout yang telah dilakukan di kelas VIII akuntansi 1. Sehingga instrumen penelitian terbukti valid dan reliabel. Setelah melakukan penelitian, dapat diketahui bahwa kelas eksperimen yang mendapatkan penggunaan teka-teki silang selisih skor dari kelas kontrol. Hal ini didukung oleh uji-T. Ini perhitungan menunjukkan hasil Thitung lebih besar dari Ttabel (2,24 > 1,99) dengan derajat kebebasan dan signifikansi 0,05. Dapat diringkas bahwa teka-teki silang memiliki pengaruh terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa dan dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif teknik dalam menilai prestasi siswa.

| Additional Information: | This research aims to figure out the influence of crossword puzzle toward students’ mastery. The research design used is quantitative approach specifically true experimental design. The population used in this research are students of the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Kragilan in academic year 2014/2015. The taken sampling class VIII. The sample are selected by random sampling technique which required 10% from population. So, the selected population are 288 students and sample 32 students of control class and 32 students of experimental class. The instrument of research is test which administered into two forms; pre-test and post-test. The instrument have been examined through tryout which has been conducted in VIII accounting 1 class. So, it is proven that the research instrument valid and reliable. After doing the research, it can be seen that the experimental class who got of using crossword puzzle the difference score from the control class. It is supported by the T-test. This calculation shows the result of Tcount is higher than Ttable (2.24 > 1.99) with the degree of freedom and the significance 0.05. It can be summarized that the crossword puzzle has an influence toward students’ vocabulary mastery and it can be used as alternative technique in assesing students achievement. | |||||||||
