Abstract
Tujuan peneliti terhadap penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan pembelajaran kooperatif terhadap kecemasan berbicara siswa dan untuk mengetahui respon siswa dalam penerapan pendekatan ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran (baik kualitatif maupun kuantitatif). Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas II SMAN 1 Pandeglang tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Itu teknik pengambilan sampel adalah kelas XI.IPA 1 sebagai kelas kontrol yang terdiri dari 44 siswa dan XI.IPA 4 sebagai kelas eksperimen yang terdiri dari 44 siswa sekaligus. Lima instrumen digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data; Skala Kecemasan Kelas Bahasa Asing (FLCAS) tes, wawancara, angket, observasi langsung, dan dokumentasi. Hasil menunjukkan nilai rata-rata pre-test FLCAS adalah 106 (Sedang Cemas) untuk kontrol dan 105 (Sedang Cemas) serta untuk kelas eksperimen. Itu berubah ketika perlakuan yang diberikan, 85,2 (Santai) untuk kelas eksperimen sedangkan kelas kontrol adalah 102.5 (Sedang Cemas). Untuk uji-T dependen, t-hitung lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (15,272 > 2,016), dan untuk uji t independen, uji t lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (7,707 > 1.987) artinya ada pengaruh yang signifikan dengan penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif pendekatan untuk mengurangi kecemasan berbicara siswa dan hipotesis diterima. Metode kualitatif menemukan bahwa siswa memiliki respon positif melalui pelaksanaan pembelajaran kooperatif itu sendiri. Akhirnya dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran kooperatif dapat menjadi alternatif pendekatan untuk mengatasi kecemasan siswa dalam menguasai bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing, terutama keterampilan berbicara.

| Additional Information: | The researcher’s objectives toward this research are to find out the influence of cooperative learning approach toward students’ speaking anxiety and to find out students’ response within the implementation of this approach. This research used mixed method (both qualitative and quantitative). The population of this research is the student of second grade in SMAN 1 Pandeglang, academic year 2013/2014. The technique sampling was the class of XI.IPA 1 as control class consisting 44 students and XI.IPA 4 as experimental class consisting 44 students as well. Five instruments were used to collect the data; Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) test, interview, questionnaire, direct observation, and documentation. The result showed the average score of FLCAS pre-test was 106 (Middle Anxious) for control class and 105 (Middle Anxious) as well for experimental class. It changed when the treatment had given, 85.2 (Relaxed) for experimental class while control class was 102.5 (Middle Anxious). For the dependent T-test, the t-count was higher than t-table (15.272 > 2.016), and for the independent T-test, T-test was higher than T-table (7.707 > 1.987) it meant there was significant influence by implementing cooperative learning approach toward reducing students’ speaking anxiety and hypothesis was accepted. The qualitative method found that students had positive response through the implementation of cooperating learning itself. Finally, it could be concluded that cooperative learning could be an alternative approach to solve the students’ anxiety in mastering English as foreign language, especially speaking skill. | |||||||||
