Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh yang signifikan dalam pengajaran membaca oleh menggunakan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada pemahaman membaca siswa kelas VIII SMPN 18 Kota Serang. Peneliti melakukan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain eksperimen semu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 18 Kota . Serang. Sampel penelitian adalah 60 siswa dengan teknik cluster sampling. Kelas VIIIA sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas VIIIC sebagai kelompok kontrol. Kelompok percobaan menerima pengajaran membaca dengan menggunakan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada pemahaman membaca siswa. Sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol menerima konvensional metode. Kedua kelompok diberikan pre-test dan post-test untuk mengetahui kemampuan membaca siswa pemahaman sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Tes terdiri dari 20 item tes di pilihan ganda. Hasil rata-rata post-test pada kelompok eksperimen 69,67 lebih tinggi dari rata-rata pada kelompok kontrol 61,00. Dalam pengujian hipotesis, peneliti menggunakan uji-t untuk mengetahui pengaruh yang signifikan dalam pengajaran membaca dengan menggunakan Contextual Teaching dan Learning (CTL) terhadap pemahaman bacaan siswa. Berdasarkan perhitungan t-test adalah thitung > ttabel atau 2,367 > 2,002. Dengan demikian, hipotesis alternatif diterima. Itu berarti bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan dalam pengajaran membaca dengan menggunakan Contextual Teaching dan Pembelajaran (CTL) pada pemahaman membaca siswa kelas VIII SMPN 18 Kota Serang.

| Additional Information: | This study aims to find out the significant influence in teaching reading by using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on students’ reading comprehension at eighth grade in SMPN 18 Kota Serang. The researcher conducted quantitative research by using quasi experimental design. The population of the research was the students at eighth grade in SMPN 18 Kota Serang. The samples were 60 students by cluster sampling technique. The class VIIIA as experimental group and class VIIIC as control group. The experimental group received the teaching reading by using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on students’ reading comprehension. While in control group received the conventional method. Both groups were given pre-test and post-test to find out students’ reading comprehension before and after the treatment. The test consists of 20 test items in multiple choices. The result of post-test mean in experimental group 69.67 is higher than mean in control group 61.00. In testing the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test to know the significant influence in teaching reading by using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on students’ reading comprehension. Based on calculating t-test was tcount > ttable or 2.367 > 2.002. Thus, alternative hypothesis was accepted. It means that there was significant influence in teaching reading by using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on students’ reading comprehension at eighth grade in SMPN 18 Kota Serang. | |||||||||
