Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis recount teks. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kelas VIII SMPN 3 Kragilan Kabupaten Serang 2014/2015 sebagai subjek penelitian. Penelitian ini adalah Collaborative Classroom Action Research, kerjasama peneliti dengan guru bahasa Inggris, Ibu Tuti Alawiyah, S.Pd. Prosedur Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini menggunakan desain Kurt Lewin. Dia terdiri dari dua siklus dimana setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, bertindak, mengamati, dan merefleksi. Untuk mendapatkan data, peneliti menggunakan kualitatif dan metode kuantitatif. Data kualitatif diperoleh melalui observasi dan wawancara, sedangkan data kuantitatif melalui tes (pre-test dan post-test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan siswa. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 54,03. Selanjutnya, nilai rata-rata post-test 1 adalah 63,63 dan nilai rata-rata post-test siklus 2 adalah 70,7. Apalagi hasil pre-test menunjukkan 3 siswa atau 10% yang lulus KKM, sedangkan pada post-test 1 ada ada 10 siswa atau 33,3% lulus KKM dan 21 siswa atau 70% tercapai KKM. Secara otomatis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode mind mapping dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks recount.

Additional Information: The aim of this research is to improving students ability in writing recount text. This research conducted at Eight Grade SMPN 3 Kragilan Kabupaten Serang 2014/2015 as a subject of the research. This research is Collaborative Classroom Action Reseach, researcher collaboration with English teacher, Mrs. Tuti Alawiyah, S.Pd. This Classroom Action Research procedure used Kurt Lewin’s design. It consisted of two cycles in which each cycle contains four phases, those are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. To get the data, the researcher used qualitative and quantitative method. Qualitative data got through observation and interview, while quantitative data through the test (pre-test and post-test). The result of the research showed there was improvement of students ability. The result of pre-test showed that the mean score of students were 54,03. Furthermore, the mean score of post-test 1 was 63,63 and mean score of post-test cycle 2 was 70,7. Moreover, result of pre-test showed 3 students or 10% which passed the KKM, meanwhile in post-test 1 there were 10 students or 33,3% passed the KKM and 21 students or 70% was achieved KKM. Automatically, it could be concluded that mind mapping method could be improvement students ability in writing recount text.
