Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi hubungan antara prestasi belajar siswa dalam kosakata dan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas delapan di MTs. Assanusiyah Balaraja. Itu Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya korelasi yang signifikan antara prestasi siswa dalam kosakata dan kemampuan membaca. Dalam penelitian ini, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menerapkan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan ex-post facto rancangan. Data diukur melalui Pearson Product Moment untuk melihat korelasinya antara variabel X (kosa kata prestasi belajar siswa) dan Y variabel (kemampuan membaca siswa). Populasi penelitian ini adalah kedelapan siswa kelas MTs. Assanusiyah Balaraja Untuk menentukan sampel, peneliti menggunakan random sampling. Data diambil dari VIII C bahwa terdiri dari 22 siswa pada tanggal 10 Februari 2014. Dari hasil tersebut peneliti menemukan koefisien korelasi antara variabel X dan variabel Y atau = 0,777. Berdasarkan r tabel interpretasi menunjukkan bahwa korelasi antara keduanya variabel berada pada tingkat korelasi yang tinggi. Analisis hipotesis yang dilakukan oleh peneliti menemukan bahwa hasil analisis hipotesis lebih tinggi dari untuk N=22 pada signifikansi 95% atau 9,27 1,72. Artinya ada korelasinya antara prestasi siswa dalam kosa kata dan kemampuan membaca mereka atau hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima.

Additional Information: This study explored the correlation between students‟ achievement in vocabulary and reading ability of eighth grade at MTs. Assanusiyah Balaraja. The objective of the research is to find out whether there is any significant correlation between students‟ achievement in vocabulary and reading ability. In this research, the researcher conducted by applying quantitative approach with ex-post facto design. The data was measured through Pearson Product Moment in order to see its correlation between X variable (Students‟ achievement vocabulary) and Y variable (Students‟ reading ability). The population of the research was the eighth grade students of MTs. Assanusiyah Balaraja In order to determine the sample, the researcher used random sampling. The data was taken from VIII C that consists of 22 students on 10 February 2014. From the result, the researcher found the coefficient correlation between X variable and Y variable or = 0.777. According to r interpretation table, it indicated that the correlation between both of variables was in high level of correlation. The hypothesis analysis conducted by the researcher found that the result of hypothesis analysis is higher than for N=22 at significance 95% or 9.27 ≥ 1.72. It means there is correlation between students‟ achievement in vocabulary and their reading ability or alternative hypothesis (Ha) received
