Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (a) untuk mengetahui hubungan antara prestasi belajar siswa strategi pembelajaran bahasa dan kemahiran bahasa Inggris mereka dan (b) untuk menyelidiki strategi pembelajaran bahasa yang paling signifikan yang berkorelasi dengan bahasa Inggris siswa kecakapan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional. Oxford (1990) SILL (inventarisir strategi pembelajaran bahasa) kuesioner versi 7.0 dan TOEIC skor tes digunakan sebagai instrumen. Kuesioner diberikan kepada 31 siswa kelas 12 jurusan komputer dan teknik di SMK YP 17 Cilegon yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Koefisien-korelasi menunjukkan ada korelasi yang kuat antara strategi belajar bahasa siswa dan kemampuan bahasa Inggris mereka karena nilai signifikansi rhitung adalah 0,752. Selanjutnya thitung (6,136) ttabel (2,042) menunjukkan bahwa Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Selain itu, perhitungan statistik melaporkan bahwa metakognitif adalah strategi yang memiliki korelasi signifikan dengan kemahiran berbahasa siswa karena nilai signifikansi rhitung sebesar 0,727.

Additional Information: The aim of this research were: (a) to find out the correlation between students’ language learning strategies and their English proficiency and (b) to investigate the most significant language learning strategies that correlate with the students’ English proficiency. This research applied quantitative correlational method. Oxford (1990) SILL (strategy inventory of language learning) questionnaire version 7.0 and TOEIC test score were used as the instruments. The questionnaires were given to 31 students of the 12th grade of computer and engineering class in the SMK YP 17 Cilegon that were chosen by using cluster random sampling technique. The coefficient-correlation indicated there was strong correlation between students’ language learning strategies and their English proficiency because the significant value of rcount was 0,752. Further, tcount (6.136) ≥ ttable (2.042) indicated that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. In addition, statistically calculation reported that metacognitive was the strategy that has significant correlation with students’ language proficiency because the significant value of rcount was 0,727.
