Abstract
Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan rancangan eksperimen sejati sebagai salah satu metode penelitian. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII siswa SMPN 18 Kota Serang. Enam puluh Siswa diambil sebagai sampel dengan random sampling, tiga puluh siswa VIIIA sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan tiga puluh siswa kelas VIIIB sebagai kelompok kontrol. Kelompok kontrol menerima konvensional metode sedangkan kelompok eksperimen menerima metode pengajaran kuantum sebagai perlakuan dalam belajar kosa kata mereka. Kedua kelompok diberikan pretest dan posttest untuk mengetahui pengetahuan kosakata siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan perawatan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, tes kosakata, dan angket. Observasi bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses peningkatan penguasaan kosakata siswa menuju penggunaan kuantum metode pengajaran, hal ini berkaitan dengan aktivitas guru dan siswa ketika metode quantum teaching diterapkan sedangkan tes kosakata bertujuan untuk menyelidiki efektivitas penggunaan metode pengajaran kuantum dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa. Yang terakhir adalah kuesioner. Hal itu bertujuan untuk mengetahui tanggapan dan pendapat siswa tentang pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan metode pengajaran kuantum. Ada beberapa hasil penelitian. 1). Hasil pengamatannya adalah bahwa siswa menunjukkan respons dan perilaku yang baik ketika quantum metode pengajaran diterapkan sebagai pengobatan. Para siswa terlihat begitu aktif, interaktif, dan memiliki semangat yang besar dalam implementasi quantum metode mengajar. 2). Hasil tes kosakata menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor pretest pada kelompok kontrol adalah 74,4 dan menjadi 84 pada posttest. Sementara itu, nilai rata-rata pretest pada kelompok eksperimen adalah 71 dan menjadi 88 pada tes akhir. Jadi, penggunaan quantum teaching dalam pembelajaran khususnya di kelas delapan kelas SMPN 18 Kota Serang telah memberikan efektivitasnya dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata. 3) Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa semua siswa pengobatan dengan metode pengajaran kuantum, menjawab "ya" untuk semua kuesioner item. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa dalam kelompok eksperimen memiliki sikap yang kuat kesepakatan terkait penggunaan metode quantum teaching dapat meningkatkan motivasi dalam belajar kosa kata.

| Additional Information: | The researcher used quantitative approach with true experimental design as a method of the research. The population of the research was the eighth grade students of SMPN 18 Kota Serang. Sixty Students were taken as the sample with random sampling, thirty students of VIIIA as the experimental group and thirty students of VIIIB as the control group. The control group received conventional method while the experimental group received the quantum teaching method as the treatment in their vocabulary learning. Both groups were given pretest and posttest to find out students’ vocabulary knowledge before the treatment and after the treatment. The instruments of the research that used in this research were observation, vocabulary test, and questionnaire. Observation was aimed to know the process of improving students’ vocabulary mastery toward the use of quantum teaching method, it related on the teacher’s and the students’ activities when the quantum teaching method was implemented while vocabulary test was aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using quantum teaching method in improving students’ vocabulary mastery. The last was questionnaire. It was aimed to know the students’ responses and opinion of learning English vocabulary by using quantum teaching method. There were some results of the research. 1). The result of observation was that the students showed their good responses and behaviors when quantum teaching method was implemented as the treatment. The students were looked so active, interactive, and had big enthusiasm in the implementation of quantum teaching method. 2). The result of vocabulary test showed that mean score of pretest in control group was 74,4 and it became 84 at the posttest. Meanwhile, the mean score of pretest in experimental group was 71 and it became 88 at the posttest. So, the use of quantum teaching in the learning especially at the eighth grade of SMPN 18 Kota Serang had gave its effectiveness in improving students’ vocabulary mastery. 3) The result of questionnaire showed that all of students treatment by quantum teaching method, answered “yes” for all the questionnaire items. So, it can be concluded that the students in experimental group had strong agreement related to the use of quantum teaching method can improve their motivation in the vocabulary learning | |||||||||
