Abstract
The researcher conducted quasi experimental research (study) to examine the influence of collaborative strategic reading toward students‘ reading comprehension ability. This research was investigated toward seventh grade students of SMP PGRI 400 Tangerang. Students were chosen randomly as grouped (class). There were two classes as comparison. Those classes assigned to experimental and control class. Treatments were designed for two meetings. It was given to experimental class only. The researcher chose descriptive text as teaching-learning material. It was chosen because it appropriated with the syllabus of the seventh grade in even semester. Research finding indicated the positive influence which shown by Collaborative Strategic Reading. It was proven by the result of students‘ post test score which showed better achievement than before receiving the treatments. Hypothesis testing accepted alternative hypothesis (Ha) and rejected null hypothesis (Ho). It was because of t-count > t-table. t-count showed 1.22. If it was compared with t-table (sig.0.5) (0,683), the result showed bigger than t-table. Thus, there was positive influence of Collaborative Strategic Reading toward students‘ reading comprehension ability.
