Abstract
PDAM adalah salah satu unit usaha milik daerah yang bergerak dalam distribusi air bersih untuk kepentingan masyarakat umum. Dalam pelayanannya, konsumen sering memberikan complain terhadap air yang didistribusikan. Dalam proses pengolahannya banyak terjadi kesalahan yang faktor utamanya disebabkan oleh beban kerja mental operator yang tinggi. Kemudian peneliti melakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan metode NASA-TLX untuk mengetahui subskala beban mental tertinggi dan Bourdon Wiersma untuk menentukan tingkat kelelahan kerja yang bersifat mental menggunakan tiga kriteria. Adapun hasil beban kerja mental yang diperoleh sebesar 71,67 dengan kategori beban mental tinggi dan skor beban mental tertinggi berada pada kategori mental demand (MD) sebesar 400. Kemudian hasil pada Bourdon Wiersma rerata skor kecepatan kerja shift pagi sebesar 14,75 detik dan shift malam sebesar 15,87 detik. Rerata skor ketelitian kerja shift pagi sebesar 13,25 dan shift malam sebesar 28,58. Rerata skor konstansi kerja shift pagi sebesar 12,37 dan shift malam sebesar 19,76. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan metode kerja, dengan menambah sistem 2 shift (2×12 jam) menjadi 3 shift (3×8 jam), diperoleh hasil rerata kecepatan kerja keseluruhan operator shift pagi sebesar 8,81 detik, shift siang sebesar 10,14 detik, dan shift malam sebesar 10,69 detik. Rerata skor ketelitian kerja shift pagi sebesar 4,25; shift siang sebesar 5,17 dan shift malam sebesar 6,17. Rerata konstansi kerja keseluruhan operator shift pagi sebesar 5,56; shift siang sebesar 8,84 dan shift malam sebesar 11,32.

| Additional Information: | PDAM is one of the business units belongs to an area that distribute clean water for the public needs. On their service, the consumers often give complaints about water distribution. In the processing of distribution, the mistake often occurs. The main factors that causes the error happened was high mental workload by the operator. According to that condition, the researcher conducted a research used NASA-TLX method to determine the highest subscale mental load and also used Bourdon Wiersma method to determine the level mental fatigue of the operator using three kinds criteria. The results obtained that mental workload is 71.67 with high mental workload category and the highest score of mental workload is in the category of mental demand (MD), 400. The other results based of the Bourdon Wiersma method, working speed score on morning shift is 14.75 seconds and on night shift is 15.87 seconds. The mean score of precise work on morning shift is 13.25 and 28.58 for the night shift. The mean score of constancy work on morning shift is 12.37 and 19.76 for the night shift. After doing an improvement of working methods, by adding the shift system from 2 shifts (2×12 hours) to 3 shifts (3×8 hours), the average speed results of overall worker on morning shift is 8.81 seconds, day shift is 10.14 seconds and 10.69 seconds for the night shift. The mean score of precise work on morning shift at 4.25, day shift is 5.17 and night shift is 6.17.
