Abstract

This research was motivated by the problem of low student learning outcomes in social science subject and the lack of student involvement in the learning precess. This is because the use of learning methods used is monotonous leacture by teacher. Therefore, to solve these problems researchers using cooperative learning model type Structured Numbered Heads (SNH). The subject in this research is 34 student of class IV SD N 1 Cikeusal. This research aims to improve the activity and student learning outcomes in social science subject. Method of this research using Class Action Research (CAR) of Kemmis & Taggart model. This research was conducted for 2 cycle, which each cycle is consist of 2 meets. The instrument used are test, observations and field notes. The results of this research are learning outcomes and activities of student in social scince subject learning have increased. In the pre-cycle mastery learning student only 41%. Then in the first cycle mastery learning of the student increased to 68% and the average percentage of student activity at the end cycle one is 67%. But on this first cycle hasn’t reached 75% of success indicators research. In the second cycle mastery learning of the student activity of the students increased again to 86% and activity of the student at the end of second also increased to 93%. This research concluded that learning by using cooperative learning model type Structured Numbered Heads (SNH) to improve learning outcome and activity of the student.
