Abstract
The decline in student achievement is due to lack of students' motivation. Interpersonal communication is one way to increase students' motivation. The purpose of this study to find out how the teacher-student communication in SMA Negeri 1 Ciruas, how students' motivation in SMAN 1 Ciruas and how big influence teacher-student interpersonal communication to student motivation in SMAN 1 Ciruas. Sub variable X namely teacher-student interpersonal communication consists of Openness, Empathy, Supportiveness, Positiveness and Equality. And sub Y student motivation is motivation intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The theory used the theory of the Stimulus Organism Response (SOR). This theory explains the stimuli are given in the organism getting a response, either accepted or rejected. This research approach is quantified with correlative studies, the population in the study were all students of SMAN 1 Ciruas with a sample of 91 respondents. Data were collected by questionnaire. The results showed that variable Teacher-Students Interpersonal Communication produce a percentage of 84%. Correlation analysis showed the teacher-student interpersonal communication with student motivation is strong and direct relationship. The study hypothesis there is a relationship between TeacherStudents Interpersonal Communication to Student Motivation in SMA Negeri 1 Ciruas. The test results showed the influence of the coefficient of determination Teacher-Students Interpersonal Communication to Student Motivation of 12.6% while the remaining 87.4% is determined other factors not examined in this study.
