Abstract

Path is a social network application in smartphone in which users can use for sharing pictures, and also messages. The company first released the application for iPhone and website, then for Android version. Path gives variety of information and freedom which impact the users with the usage of the application. The purposes of research is to find out in Path As a Medium of Social Interaction In terms Of Analysis Rosengren. The researcher is which assumes the media play an active role in selecting and using the media to assume that the user has alternative options to astisfy their needs. The method used in this research is quantitative, with descriptive characteristic. The approach in this research is quantitative. The method used was a survey, using proportionate stratified random sampling technique in which researchers collected information from 89 respondents by distributing questionnaires to students of Communication Sciences 2008-2012 UNTIRTA Serang. The analysis is validity, reliability and the description of the table of results.The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is the use Untirta students in using the path as a medium of social interaction for frequency relatively strong with a 31.5% percentage of acquisition, the duration of the relatively strong with the acquisition of a percentage of 34.5%, and a relatively strong attention to the acquisition of 43.8% percentage.

Additional Information: Path merupakan sebuah aplikasi jejaring sosial pada telepon pintar yang memungkinkan penggunanya untuk berbagi gambar, dan juga pesan. Perusahaan ini berawal dengan aplikasi pada iPhone dan juga website lalu merilis versi Android. Beragamnya informasi yang hadir serta kebebasan yang diberikan pihak Path menimbulkan interaksi sosial tertentu pada pengguna dalam menggunakan aplikasi tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi Mahasiswa Komunikasi Untirta dalam menggunakan media sosial Path. Peneliti menggunakan konsep Rosengren. Inti konsep rosengren adalah berusaha mencari data khalayak tentang penggunaan media baik jenis media, frekuensi, durasi dan atensi. Metode penelitian ini yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif yang bersifat Deskriptif. Di dalam konsep sebuah terpaan media akan berkolerasi dengan pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei, dengan menggunakan teknik proportionate stratified random sampling dimana peneliti mengumpulkan informasi dari 89 responden dengan menyebarkan kuesioner pada mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi UNTIRTA 2008-2012 Serang. Analisis yang digunakan adalah uji validitas, uji reabilitas dan deskripsi table hasil. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan mahasiswa Untirta dalam menggunakan path sebagai media interaksi sosial untuk frekuensi tergolong kuat dengan perolehan persentase 31,5%, durasi tergolong kuat dengan perolehan persentase 34,5%, dan atensi tergolong kuat dengan perolehan persentase 43,8%.
