Abstract
IIN KURNIATI. 050361. REPRESENTASI BUDAYA PENDIDIKAN DALAM FILM LASKAR PELANGI (Kajian Cultural Studies dalam Film bertema Pendidikan dan Sosial produksi Miles Film dan Mizan Productions). Konsentrasi Jurnalistik. Prodi Komunikasi. Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik. Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Banten. 2009. Film tidak lagi dimaknai sekedar sebagai karya seni, tetapi lebih sebagai praktik sosial dan komunikasi massa. Dalam perspektif praktik sosial, film melibatkan interaksi yang kompleks dan dinamis dari elemen-elemen pendukung proses produksi, distribusi maupun eksibisinya. Sedangkan film dalam perspektif komunikasi massa dimaknai sebagai representasi pesan yang disampaikan pada khalayak. Representasi sebagai bagian terbesar dari cultural studies yang terpusat pada pertanyaan tentang bagaimana dunia dikonstruksi dan digambarkan secara sosial dari kita dan oleh kita dimaknai dalam film sebagai satu warisan budaya antar generasi. Maka film sebagai salah satu wadah komunikasi massa juga berfungsi sebagai transmisi budaya pada masyarakat. Film Laskar Pelangi yang bertemakan pendidikan dan sosial dipahami sebagai representasi realitas budaya yang memperlihatkan bagaimana suatu budaya bekerja dan hidup dalam suatu masyarakat. Sehingga film dapat dikatakan sebagai media efektif dalam pembelajaran budaya oleh masyarakat. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian studi budaya atau cultural studies dengan pendekatan riset kualitatif. Melalui unit analisis berupa film laskar pelangi, digunakanlah analisis Semiotika Barthes yang dapat mengungkap penanda, petanda, makna denotasi serta makna konotasi yang ada. Sehingga ditemukan sejumlah mitos dan ideologi yang tersembunyi dibalik representasi budaya yang ditampilkan dalam film tersebut. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini berupa sejumlah konsep yang terkait dengan studi budaya, seperti konsep marginalisasi masyarakat, hegemoni kekuasaan, konsep identitas, konsep gender, modernisasi, etnografi yang terkait dengan kerangka pokok antropologi, serta materialisme kultural. Keseluruhan konsep tersebut mencerminkan sejumlah temuan budaya pendidikan seperti masih lemahnya sektor pendidikan karena pemerataan anggaran pendidikan yang belum maksimal, masih pretensiusnya pendidikan karena lebih mementingkan gengsi daripada skill, kurangnya penghargaan terhadap proses, pendidikan masih diukur dari angka-angka statistik belaka, serta komersialisasi pendidikan.

The film is no longer interpreted as works of art, but as a social practice and mass communication. In the perspective of social practices, film involves a complex interaction and dynamic from the supporting elements of the process production, distribution and exhibition. While the film is in mass communication perspective, it mean as representations of the message that send to the audience. Representation as the largest part of the cultural studies centered on a question of how the world is constructed and socially represented by us and of us interpreted the film as a cultural heritage between generations. So the film is as one of the mass communication forum that also serves as a cultural transmission in the community. Laskar Pelangi’s film that theme of education and social is understood as a representation of reality culture. It shows how a culture working and living in a society. So the film can be considered as an effective medium in learning’s culture of the society. This research is a study of cultural studies with qualitative research approaches. Through the analysis unit of the film laskar pelangi, Semiotics Barthes's analysis is used to reveal markers, an indication, the meaning of denotation and connotation’s sign. In order to find a number of myths and ideologies that hidden behind the cultural representations which appear in the film. The results of this investigation are a number of concepts related to cultural studies, such as the concept of marginalization society, hegemony of power, the concept of identity, the concept of gender, modernity, ethnography associated with the main framework of anthropology, and cultural materialism. The overall concept reflects a number of education culture such as the education sectors is still weak because the distribution of the education budget is not maximized, the education is still pretensius because it’s more interest for prestige rather than skill, lack of respect for the process, education is measured by statistics, and an educate commersialitation. |
