Abstract

Opacity of exhaust gas is released in the thickness of the diesel engine smoke. Measuring instrument used is opacimeter (smoke tester) free acceleration testing done by passing motor vehicle exhaust fumes into a tube on the appliance smoke opacity meter then reads the smoke opacity value method means the absorption of light (light absorption). Experiments carried out to see the opacity and temperature of the exhaust gases exit through a pipeline with a variable length of pipe 1, 2, 3 meters, in addition to the length of pipe to vary the spin machine that is 1000, 1500, 2000 rpm without load. From the research opacity that with increasing length of the exhaust pipe can reduce the value of smoke opacity or density. From the test results that the temperature at round 1000, 1500, 2000 rpm showed a decrease in the temperature of T1, T2, T3. Additional Information: Opasitas adalah gas buang yang dikeluarkan mesin diesel dalam ketebalan asap. Alat ukur yang dipakai adalah opacimeter (smoke tester) pengujian akselerasi bebas dilakukan dengan cara melewatkan gas buang kendaraan bermotor kedalam suatu tabung asap pada alat opacity smoke meter kemudian nilai opasitas asap dibaca pada alat dengan metode penyerapan cahaya (light absorption). Eksperimen dilakukan untuk melihat opasitas dan temperatur gas buang yang keluar melalui saluran pipa dengan variabel panjang pipa 1, 2, 3 meter, selain panjang pipa dilakukan variasi putaran mesin yaitu 1000, 1500, 2000 rpm tanpa beban. Dari hasil penelitian opasitas bahwa dengan bertambahnya panjang pipa gas buang dapat mengurangi nilai opasitas atau kepekatan asap. Dari hasil pengujian temperatur bahwa pada putaran 1000, 1500, 2000 rpm menunjukkan penurunan temperatur T1, T2, T3. Hal ini disebabkan terjadinya proses konduksi pada pipa gas buang bahwa panas berpindah dari bagian titik T1 gas buang yang bertemperatur tinggi menuju bagian titik T3 gas buang yang bertemperatur rendah.
