Abstract

The background of this research is the ability of communication and mathematical disposition is very low. This is caused by the learning activities that are still dominated by the activity of the teacher and does not relate the material with contextual problems experienced by students. Based on this, the efforts is by using a realistic approach to the application of mathematics education (RME) with Mechanical Think Pair Share as a learning tool that offers a concept of learning that helps students to foster communication skills and mathematical disposition. The purpose of this study is whether the final achievement and improved communication capabilities and dispositions given students' mathematical learning with the application of the RME approach with techniques Think Pair Share better than the students who get regular learning. This study used a quasi-experimental methods. The population in this study is junior high school at seven grade Student in the Serang City and the sample was taken two classes cluster random sampling. The instrument used was a test of mathematical communication skills and dispositions scale. From this study it can be concluded that the final achievement and improved communication capabilities and dispositions given students' mathematical learning with the application of the RME approach with techniques Think Pair Share better than the students who get regular learning.
