Abstract

This study aims to enchance capabilities concept mathematical concepts and kemampuam student interest through advance organizer teaching model using concept maps. This research method is a method of combination (mixed method) with the type of sequentional explanatory. The study population was all students in grade VIII SMP Negeri 17 Serang. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. Samples were class VIII D as an experimental class and VIII C as the control class. Quantitative data collection techniques using test instruments and non-test, whereas qualitative data collection using observation sheets, interview and documentation. The results showed that the learning of mathematics through advanced learning model organizer using concept maps can enhance the ability of understanding mathematical concepts and student interest. This is evident from the results of statistical tests show that the ultimate achievement and peningkatakan ability of understanding mathematical concepts that students in learning using advanced models organizer using concept maps is better than the expository teaching model. Similarly it can be proved that the student interest in learning to use advanced models organizer using concept maps is better than the expository teaching model.
