Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of the mathematical connection capability and self-efficacy which is still considered low student at SMPN 1 Tigaraksa. Therefore, researcher apply learning Brain Based Learning approach, since this approach is expected to improve the ability of mathematical connections and self-efficacy of students. This study aims to determine whether the ultimate achievement and increase the ability of mathematical connections and self-efficacy of students who received study with Brain Based Learning approach better than students who received study with expository method. The method used in this research is the method of combination (mixed method) with incorporation of QUANTITATIVE-qualitative and concurrent embedded design. The study involved two classes of experimental class and control class. The study population was all students in grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tigaraksa. Samples were class VIII F as an experimental class and VIII E as the control class. The instrument used in this study a mathematical connection capability test instruments, non-test instruments in the form of self-efficacy scale, observation sheet, interviewguidance, documentation and the researcher itself. The results of the study concludes that the ultimate achievement and increase the ability of mathematical connections and self-efficacy experimental class is better than the control class.
