Abstract

Color is a importance characteristic in ornamental fish. The problems that commonly occur in goldfish is the color of the fish that tend to fade. Carotenoid can be used for enhancing color in goldfish. Bixa orellana once a plant have a carotenoid. This study to aims effect added Bixa orellana meal for quality color and goldfish growth in subtitution comercial feed. The research started on AprilJune 2016 in Center of Research and Development of Ornamental Fish Aquaculture Depok-West Java Province. Goldfish with an average 3.87±0.40 g and maintained in aquarium 45x29x35 cm 3 used a volume 20.8 L for 42 days. In this research used Bixa orellana meal with five concentration different is 0%, 1%, 2%, 4% and 8% and three treatment. Feed given use a feeding rate 5% biomass in fish two time a days (10.00 am and 03.00 pm). The results showed used of flour Bixa orellana 4% increasing maintain lightness 46.21±0.32%, chroma 36.01±2.76%, hue 56.01±0.59°, redness 19.94±1.34°, yellowness 29.83±2.43°, in total carotenoids scale is 39.76±7.76 µmol/g, fin is 63.20±14.73 µmol/g, skin 33.93±14.30 µmol/g, absolute growth 2.99±0.76 g, survival rate 85.71±0.00% and feed convertion ratio 0.60±0.08. The addition of Bixa orellana 4 % in feed can maintain and improve the color and growth oranda goldfish. Keywords : Bixa orellana, carotenoid, goldfish.
