Abstract

Pacific White shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of the flagship products for the Indonesian fisheries. It can live with on a wide range of salinity, namely euryhaline, from 0 to 50 ppt. This capability is an opportunity to develop Pasific White shimp in low salinity and will increase production. Aquaponics is the one way of reducing water pollution produced by fish farming, and also became the one alternative to reduce amount of water used in farming system. The aim of this study is to evaluate the cultivation of Pacific White shrimp with low salinity in aquaponics system that can support to survival rate and growth rate. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD). With five treatments and three replicates respectively. The treatment were the difference in salinity, ie 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 ppt. The parameters observed the survival rate, specific growth rate and feed conversion ratio. Shrimp maintained for 35 day. The results of survival rate showed a range of value 20.83±0.00-95.83±0.01%, the specific growth rate showed a range of value 6.76±0.17-7.43±0.06%/day and the feed conversion ratio showed a range of value 1.35±0.13-1.57±0.08. The treatment with 3 ppt is the best treatment to support survival rate and specific growth rate for Pacific White shrimp. Survival rate obtained at 95.83 ± 0.13% and specific growth rate obtained at 7.43 ± 0.06%/day. The treatments no significant effect on feed conversion ratio. Keywords: aquaponics, Pasific White shrimp, low salinity.
