Abstract
This studyaims at describingcodes mixingused inkoala Kumal Novel. Theproblems are what the typeof code mixing and the purpose of code mixingthat used in Koala Kumal Novel. The research uses descriptive qualitativemethodtocollectthedata.Thedataare the EnglishwordsinKoala Kumal Novel.Thewriter collects data by finding the types of Indonesian-English codemixing used in Koala Kumal Novel, selecting sentence that consist ofIndonesian-Englishcodemixing.Theanalysisshows that thereare some typesthat use,suchas: insertation and alternation.Thepurposesofwhy RadityaDikamixes their languageareprestige filling motive,need feeling motive,assertingstatus, pride and power, being more informative, making jokes andexpressing self-emotion.The implicationof this graduatingpaper inEnglishteaching is focused in vocabulary. The achievements of this research areexpected tobeadditional source of code mixing study and it is meant toconduct anddevelop such a research inthecodemixingfield.
