Abstract
Learning to read in junior high reading comprehension are aimed at concluding the content of reading. The benefits of reading comprehension is a skilled student reading comprehension and can capture the right information from the text being read. Therefore, the reading skills of this kind need to be trained continuously with appropriate methods so that students do not have difficulty in reading so that students can understand the reading and find exact content of reading. One of the most influential factors and the very need for a solution is the teacher factor. Teachers who use the conventional method of teaching which causes less enthusiastic students in learning. Efforts to overcome it is to implement a system of varied learning. One is the use of guided inquiry method. The researchers use the learning cycle. The ability of students in finding the main idea in a text paragraph observation report. There were 20 students were able to well in finding the main idea of a paragraph in the text of the report observation through guided inquiry method (54.1%), and there are 10 students who are quite capable of finding the main idea in a text report pararaf observation through guided inquiry method (32.4 %), there were only 6 students who are less able to find the main idea in the text of the report observation through guided inquiry method (16.2%). So the classical average ability students in finding the main idea in the text of the report observation through guided inquiry method to obtain 80.9 or better category

| Additional Information: | Pembelajaran membaca di tingkat SMP adalah membaca pemahaman yang bertujuan menyimpulkan isi bacaan. Manfaat dari membaca pemahaman adalah siswa terampil membaca pemahaman dan dapat menangkap informasi-informasi yang tepat dari bacaan yang dibaca. Oleh karena itu, keterampilan membaca jenis ini perlu dilatihkan terus menerus dengan metode yang tepat agar siswa tidak mengalami kesulitan dalam membaca sehingga siswa dapat memahami bacaan dan menemukan isi bacaan dengan tepat. Salah satu faktor yang paling berpengaruh dan sangat perlu adanya solusi adalah faktor guru. Guru yang mengunakan metode mengajar yang konvensional menyebabkan siswa kurang bersemangat dalam pembelajaran. Upaya untuk mengatasinya adalah menerapkan sistem pembelajaran yang variatif. Salah satunya adalah menggunakan metode Inkuiri terbimbing . Peneliti ini menggunakan siklus pembelajaran. Kemampuan siswa dalam menemukan gagasan utama paragraf pada teks laporan observasi. Ada 20 siswa mampu dengan baik dalam menemukan gagasan utama paragraf pada teks laporan observasi melalui metode inkuiri terbimbing (54,1%), dan ada 10 siswa yang cukup mampu dalam menemukan gagasan utama pararaf pada teks laporan observasi melalui metode inkuiri terbimbing (32,4%), hanya ada 6 siswa yang kurang mampu dalam menemukan gagasan utama pada teks laporan observasi melalui metode inkuiri terbimbing (16,2%). Jadi rata-rata klasikal Kemampuan siswa dalam menemukan gagasan utama pada teks laporan observasi melalui metode inkuiri terbimbing memperoleh 80,9 atau berkategori baik. | |||||||||
