Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze the condition of availability of staple food (rice), the condition of the availability of backup staple food (rice), and alternative food reserves in Curug, Serang. The methods used in this research is a survey method. Site selection research determined intentionally (purposive), i.e. in Curug, Serang with consideration on the basis of the Sub-District of Curug is one of the town is the capital of Banten Province and the Central Government, so the conversion of agricultural land is large enough. The collection of data obtained from the results of the interview guide with a detailed questionnaire to farmers. The technique used is the sample techniques of cluster sampling, so samples that used as many as 99 household farmers of peasant household 8.454 population. Data analysis techniques using analysis of food availability and food reserves. Based on the results of the analysis, the results obtained that the average availability of the peasant household staple food samples based on the value of its energy was 1.582,42 kcal/capita/day, including the category of being. The majority of the peasant household sample categories include low (68,69%), the rest including the categories are (9.09%) and high (22,22%) categories. The condition of availability of staple food reserves only 8 households available sampled farmers food reserves anyway. The condition of the availability of alternative food reserves only 4 households available sampled farmers food alternatives reserve of cassava, while food reserves of other alternatives, such as sweet potatoes, corn, bananas, breadfruit, and instant noodles, less available in farmer’s households.
