Abstract

Recognizing geometric shapes in early childhood is the ability of children to know, pointing, mentions and collect objects around based on geometric shapes. The purpose of the research is to improve the ability to recognizing the concept of geometry through constructive play in group B in RA Ar-Rahmah Pondok Aren- South Tangerang. The geometry is introduced, namely triangel, square, rectangle and circle. The method used was classroom action research, conducted in collaboration with classroom teachers in group B. Subject of this research were 10 children consisting of 6 girls and 4 boys. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The research was conducted by two cycles of each cycle consists of four phases: planning, action, observation and reflection. Data were analyzed using qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. Indicators of success in this research is successful if the percentage of the ability to recognizing the concept of geometry in children has reached 75% with good criteria or that are in the category of developing according to expectations. Based on the data from the first conditions before the action research grade obtained information that a percentage of 37.5% was not reached indicator of success. So do the research in RA Ar-Rahmah Pondok Aren- South Tangerang. The results showed a gradual increase in the ability to recognizing the concept of geometry through constructive play. It can be seen from the increase in overall percentage obtained an increase of 15.5% with the results of 53% at the end of the first cycle, an increase of 32% to 85% results in the second cycle. Based on these data we can conclude that by playing a constructive can improve the ability to recognizing the concept of geometry in children in group B RA-Ar-Rahmah Pondok Aren- South Tangerang.
