Abstract

Background This study initiated by the results of the initial study data which shows the condition of visual-spatial intelligence of children aged 5-6 years in Kindergarten Pembina Serang are still low. It has been proved that many children are not familiar with the three-dimensional shapes well. From this problem, the purpose of this research is to improve visual-spatial intelligence children’s through playing the block. This study used action research method with two cycles. In each cycle consists of four stages namely, planning, action, observation, and reflection. This study subjects were children 0f 5-6 years age that totaled 10 children, consisting of 4 boys and 6 girls. Data collection technique using observation and interview, while the data analysis technique using data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results analysis of data obtained in visual-spatial intelligence children’s through playing the block for children aged 5-6 years in Kindergarten Pembina Serang had been done in two cycles, the first cycle consist of 8 meeting and the second cycle consist of 3 meeting. In learning process, begins by designed RPPH and prepared media for block’s activities. In core activities, we took action and observed in each cycle, and then we and collaborator evaluated to improve the the activities that are considered unfavorable. The result of this study reached 53% in cycle 1. It indicates this study had not been successful, the specified indicators of success is 75%, so study continued in cycle 2. In cycle 2 reached 78%. Based on the analysis of data in cycle 2 the target is reached and the study declared successful. it can be concluded that the activity of playing block can improved visual-spatial intelligence of children aged 5-6 years in Kindergarten Pembina Serang.
