Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the implementation of learning by using cooperative learning type jigsaw model is appropriate to improve students’ learning result and activity on the subjects of civics education. Method that was used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This action research consisted of two cycles, each cycle consisted of two meetings. At each cycle consisted of four process; planning, implementing, observing, reflexing. From the result of the research,it wasfound that the implementation of cooperative learning type jigsaw model can improve learning result and activity of fifth grade students’ of SDN Cikeruton the subjects of civics education. This was indicated by an increase on the students’ learning result at each cycle, where at cycle I class’ average score was 74 with category “fair” and it increased at cycle II where class’ average score was 86 with category “good”. It was as well as for students’ result of learning activity at cycle I was 66% with category “poor” and it increased at cycle II where students’ result of learning activity was 92% with category “very good”. Thus, the result of this research proves that the implementation of cooperative learning type jigsaw model can improve learning result and activity of fifth grade students’ of SDN Cikerut on the subjects of civics education.
