Abstract

Tembelekan (Lantana camara) allegedly has potency as bioherbicide due to its allelopathic compounds produced. Tembelekan contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids, tannins and quinones. The aim of this research was to determine potency of allelopathic compounds from tembelekan leaf as bioherbicide. The research used non factorial randomized block design, with variations of extract concentration (0%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%). The Parameters observed included plant height of jajagoan weed, wet weight of jajagoan weed, dry weight of jajagoan weed, root length of jajagoan weed, phytotoxicity of jajagoan weed, plant height of rice (Oryza sativa) and the amount of rice tiller. Observational data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA to determine the effect of treatment against the growth of test plants, DMRT performed at the level of 5% to determine the real differences among treatments. The results reveal that tembelekan leaf extract can inhibited the growth of jajagoan weed. Effects of tembelekan leaf extract against the growth of jajagoan weed can inhibited root length, wet weight and dry weight of jajagoan weed. The observed growth parameters of rice plant (plant height and the amount of rice tiller) were not inhibited
