Abstract

This research aims to figure out the influence of pictures toward students’ grammatical mastery in degree of comparison of adjective. The research design used is quantitative method especially true experimental design. The population which was used in this research are students of the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Serang in academic year 2014/2015. According to Arikunto (2002), the researcher determined to take 22% from population. So, this research had 72 students as the sample. So, the selected sample were 36 students of control class (VIII E) and 36 students of experimental class (VIII C). The instrument of research is test which administered into two forms; pre-test and post-test. The instrument have been examined through tryout which has been conducted in VIII D class. So, it is proven that the research instrument valid and reliable. After doing the research, it can be seen that the experimental class who got material with many pictures as treatment shows the difference score from the control class. It is supported by the T-test. This calculation shows the result of tcount is higher than ttable(4.39 > 1.6) with the degree of freedom 70. It can be concluded that pictures has an influence toward students’ grammatical mastery in degree of comparison of adjective and it can be used as alternative media in teaching and learning process.
