Abstract

This research is conducted to know the influence of literature circle toward students’ reading comprehension on narrative text. The place of the research is at SMAN 1 Cinangka. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher conducted quasi experimental research. The population of this research is all students of eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Cinangka in academic year 2014-1015. The number of entire students is 200.This research is used cluster sampling as technique sampling and took 30 students as sample. The sample was divided in two groups; experimental class and control class. The experimental class was taught by using literature circle as technique, whereas the control class was taught by using conventional method. In analyzing the data, the researcher used a quantitative measurement to find the result. The analysis of the data showed that there was a significant influence of literature circle toward students’ reading comprehension on narrative texts. It is proved by the result of Pearson Product Moment Correlation test is 0.88 higher than 0.68 or rcount > rtable. It is also strengthening with ttest result. The result is 5.048 higher than 1.70 or ttest > ttable. Based on the finding, it is suggested that literature circle can be used by the teachers to influence students especially in improving students’ reading comprehension on narrative text.
