Abstract

The objectives of this researches were to determine: the relationship the mastery of vocabulary with the ability to appreciate the short story; relationships ability to read text with the ability to appreciate the short story; and relationship the mastery of vocabulary and the ability to read text with the ability to appreciate the stories in class XI MA Ulumul Qur'an Serang. This research used a correlation method with the approach of the independent variable (X) includes vocabulary (X1) and the ability to read text (X2). The populations in this research were all students in grade XI MA Ulumul Qur'an by the number of 24 students. The results showed: 1) there was a significant correlation between the mastery of vocabulary to appreciate short story class XI student of MA Ulumul Qur'an Serang. This relationship indicated by a correlation coefficient as 0,790 and a determinant coefficient as 62,4%, so that t count greater than t (6,037 > 2,074); 2) there was a significant relationship between the ability to read text with Indonesian appreciate the short story class XI student of MA Ulumul Qur'an Serang. This relationship indicated by a correlation coefficient as 0,653 and a determinant coefficient as 42,6%, so that t count table greater than t (4,042 > 2,074); 3) there was a significant correlation between the mastery of vocabulary and the ability to read text with a short story class XI student appreciates MA Ulumul Qur'an Serang. This relationship indicated by a correlation coefficient as 0,831 and a determinant coefficient as 69%, so that F table iv count greater than F (23,405 > 3,47). This research shows that the higher the vocabulary and the ability to read text appreciate someone higher the stories. Vice versa, the lower the vocabulary and the ability to read text appreciate the lower the short story

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara penguasaan kosakata dengan mengapresiasi cerpen siswa kelas XI MA Ulumul Qur’an Kota Serang. Hubungan ini ditunjukkan oleh koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,790 dan koefisien determinasi 62,4%, serta nilai t hitung lebih besar dari t (6,037 > 2,074); 2) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemampuan membaca teks dengan mengapresiasi cerpen bahasa Indonesia siswa kelas XI MA Ulumul Qur’an Kota Serang. Hubungan ini ditunjukkan oleh koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,653 dan koefisien determinasi 42,6%, serta nilai t tabel lebih besar dari t tabel hitung (4,042 > 2,074); 3) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara penguasaan kosakata dan kemampuan membaca teks dengan mengapresiasi cerpen siswa kelas XI MA Ulumul Qur’an Kota Serang. Hubungan ini ditunjukkan oleh koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,831 dan koefisien determinasi 69%, serta nilai F hitung lebih besar dari F (23,405 > 3,47). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi penguasaan kosakata dan kemampuan membaca teks seseorang semakin tinggi pula mengapresiasi cerpen. Begitu pula sebaliknya, semakin rendah penguasaan kosakata dan kemampuan membaca teks semakin rendah pula mengapresiasi cerpen tersebut.
